She is the celestial one who "hears the sounds of the world" and rescues people endangered or floundering in perilous situations. The sculptor sculpted the Kuan Yin sitting criss cross on the rock with her hand in Karana Mudra gesture where the thumb presses the folded middle fingers while the index and little fingers are raised straight in an upward direction with her palm facing forward
