Pete Hogan, Bewley's Cafe, Westmoreland Street Larger garden sheds Max Beerbohm and William RothensteinThe now closed Bewley's on Westmoreland Street. This drawing dates from the early 1990s. For many Dubliners over fifty, this was their favourite Bewley's. The Westmoreland Street branch was bigger and quieter than the one on Grafton Street, described by James Joyce as the "afternoon resort of the intelligentsia". It was spacious and dark, filled with people on their own or in small groups: a part of our city that is sadly missed. Pete Hogan is a
